Why Huntington St.?
For multiple reasons. Huntington Beach is one of the most consistent breaks in the world. Huntington Street is far enough away from any major breaks and provides a nice soft sand break that is great for beginners. You have the option of paying the city parking fee of $15 per day to park on the beach or to park just a short walk up the road for free.
How old do you have to be to start surfing?
Honestly, it depends on the student. So long as they are able to swim, they can start as early as 7, but it never hurts to bring them down so we can evaluate their ability to learn and be safe out in the water free of charge.
Can you be too old to learn to surf?
Never!
Is surfing dangerous?
Anything involving the ocean has the potential to be dangerous. With our qualified instructors teaching you and/or your children proper safety and knowledge and the proper application of that knowledge, however, surfing can be a very safe and fun sport.
How long does it take to learn to surf?
Like the age, it all depends on the student. With constant help and observation from our instructors, we will assure that you learn to be confident out in the water as soon as possible
Do you provide any equipment?
Yes! We provide surfboards and wetsuits for our students at no charge! Just be sure to call in advance to inform us of how many people are coming along with their sizes.
Should I use a soft board?
No. If you want to learn to surf properly, we suggest that you learn on a real surfboard because the properties of a soft board are not made to withstand the pressures of surfing anything more than whitewash. If you are a conserned parent, however, they can be alright for young kids looking for a good time, or just standing for the first time.
